The first day of the 2014 PIT Conference will focus on China, notably its policy regarding industry, trade and agriculture; and on a selection of key fertilizer markets in Asia.

The second day will encompass a range of topics centered on environmental performances in the fertilizer industry in China and IFA Protect & Sustain certification programme, feedstock issues and impacts on the nitrogen and sulphur industry, global trade of fertilizer products and trade measures, and trends in growing niche markets of specialty fertilizers and deNOx urea applications.

第二天将围绕中国化肥行业环境治理以及IFA的保护和可持续方面的工作，原材料问题，氮肥以及硫工业的影响，化肥产品的全球贸易以及贸易措施以及特种肥料的增长市场和脱硝尿素的应用等方面展开讨论。

Understanding China in a global perspective

The focus on China becomes obvious in the light of this country’s importance in global fertilizer use and its rise as a prominent supplier of fertilizers in world markets since 2006.  However, new trends have recently emerged in China, on its environmental and energy challenges, the sustainability of fertilizer demand growth and the resilience of its structural overcapacity on nitrogen and phosphates.  How much is sustainable?  What is the industrial and trade policy of China, contributing to world supply? What actions are undertaken by the Chinese industry to meet those challenges?

The fertilizer industry is truly global, by virtue its full integration in the global value chain. Structural evolution in key consuming regions, such South Asia or Latin America, have direct implications to supplying regions, as West Asia, and to inter-regional trade flows. What are the opportunities and innovation in growing niche markets, such as specialty fertilizer or industrial deNOx applications? How and where the fertilizer sector expands its capability and enhances its interregional trade to meet growing demand? What are the prospects of fertilizer markets in key countries in Asia?
